Saturday, December 24: His name shall be called..the Everlasting Father
Please read the following passages concerning this Son, born in Bethlehem, given at Calvary and upon whose shoulders the government shall be: Colossians 1:16-17, Micah 5:2, Psalm 90:1-2, Genesis 1:1, Psalm 45:6
As Mary strung those early Christmas impressions together (Luke 2:19), may we look back with the clarity of the Scriptures and come to understand the eternality of Jesus Christ.
There is no truth more necessarily defended about the person of Jesus Christ than His eternality. If Christ were a mere baby, the Son of God who began at Bethlehem would have been nothing more than a new-and-improved version of mankind. However, what God sent forth to Bethlehem was One so like us in humanity and yet so unlike us in His Deity. The Everlasting Father was God robed in flesh. God had no beginning (Psalm 90:1-2). What Mary brought forth was the wonder of that Everlasting One taking on human form- that is the essence of Bethlehem.
