If I heard it once last night, I heard it a thousand times. When the ball dropped on Times Square, they shouted, “It’s a new start! A new beginning has come!” Now, I understand what that means; it is the ending of one of life’s chapter and the beginning of a new one. It is a proper time to think about our lives and ask God to help us. Many are big on resolutions; some folks think little of them.
However, is 2011 a new start or will status quo continue? The fact is, only in Christ can one experience a new start. We have all tried and failed to change ourselves; we have vowed vows and failed. January becomes the best month of the year for every workout center in the country, until memberships curtail by March. You see, we are incapable in ourselves to change ourselves. That is what we as Christians have come to love about Christ- He can change the heart and life.
The Bible says in Second Corinthians chapter five and verse seventeen, Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new. The year 1994 became my new start. That was the day in my life when I said “yes” to Jesus Christ. Truly then, and only then, could I say, “It’s a new start! It is a new beginning.”
If you have tried in vain to change yourself, your habits, your life, your heart, come to Jesus…Jesus saves!
