Spiritual Amnesia

The success or failure of the Christian life is often measured by what we remember or what we forget.  Like Paul (Philippians 3:13) there are some things that are best forgotten.  He said, This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind. One must remember to forget the old life, but like Israel there are some things that we need to remember.  Sadly, they forgot some things that they should have always remembered.  Psalm 78 says,  They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy. How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:  And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink (42-44).

If a nation could forget how God parted the Red Sea, led them forth, fed them with manna every morning and gave water out of a rock sufficient for 2 million people, I am convinced that we, too, can forget the goodness of God in our lives.

  1. the day God saved you
  2. past answers to prayer & faith builders in your Christian life
  3. the work of God in the local church

Don’t forget what great things God has done in your life!  Praise Him and always remember what you should remember and forget what you should forget.
